This a glorious tribal Persian
Bakhtiari carpet which is woven in almost a square size. Bakhtiari
carpets are made by a tribe living in the south of Mahallat,
between the cities of Hamadan and Isfahan. They are dyed almost
exclusively with vegetable colors and are of medium quality.
The Bakhtiari carpets fall into two groups, the first of which
can be described as ,tribal, and the second as ,workshop, weavings.
This wonderful sun burst or sunflower center medallion design
is a good example of the tribal Bakhtiari weavings and it is
extremely durable and hardwearing. A wonderful carpet for a
wonderful home. |
